Russia Has Announced the Reduction of U.S. Diplomatic Presence To Respond To US Sanctions

On Friday, the Russian government decided to take action against US sanctions, declaring a reduction in US diplomatic presence in Russia. The US Senate recently voted to approve the Russian sanctions bill.

In response to a proposed US sanctions against Russia, Russia required the US to reduce its diplomatic presence in Russian territory. Moscow plans to reduce the number of staff at the US embassy in Russia to 455 from September 1. The US Embassy staff in Russia dropped to 455, equal to the Russian embassy staff in the United States. It is not clear how many US officials serve in the US Embassy in Russia. According to anonymous sources, Russian measures could affect hundreds of staff.
